Recognising the challenges that audit committees face in meeting their demanding responsibilities and building on the success of the Audit Committee Institute ("ACI") provided by KPMG US, KPMG Hong Kong created the Hong Kong Audit Committee Institute ("HKACI") in December 2002 to serve as a resource for audit committees and senior management in Hong Kong and the People's Republic of China ("PRC").

Our primary mission is to communicate with audit committee members and enhance their awareness, commitment, and ability to implement effective audit committee processes.

HKACI's initiatives include publication of KPMG Corporate Governance White Paper, the Guide for Company Directors, and Hong Kong Audit Committee Update, periodic roundtables, corporate governance conferences and board presentations, updates on the latest corporate governance developments, and our Web site.

The HKACI will make available information on future ACI initiatives and will also actively network with audit committee members in Hong Kong and the PRC with a view to promoting best practice and sharing the latest corporate governance developments.

We encourage you to make full use of the HKACI to remain informed about today's critical issues.
